Irvington Home Tour - FoursquareFor the twenty-eighth year in a row, Portlanders will have an opportunity to tour some of the city’s most extraordinary classic homes during the 28th Annual Irvington Historic Home Tour.  This year, in addition to the tour, the Irvington Community Association is presenting a lecture by Mary Piper entitled, “Elizabeth Irving and the Creation of Irvington” to further explore Irvington’s historic roots.

Irvington has long been considered one of Portland’s finest communities.  It has an eclectic mix of architectural styles, ranging from extravagant Craftsman, spacious Foursquare, noble Tudor and nostalgic Colonial Revival.  Not to be left out are the many mixed styles, such as Craftsman/Colonial, or classic architecture like the Greek Revival.

If you’ve never taken the tour before, you can expect an enjoyable day touring some of the most magnificent properties in Portland Irvington Home Tour - Tudorwhile learning the history of each.  You will be provided with a brochure and walking map filled with information about each property, as well as sites along the route.  Each house is staffed with knowledgeable staff who are more than happy to answer questions.

Plan on the tour taking a couple hours, but you can tour the houses in any order you want and are free to deviate from the route if the mood strikes.   The weather looks to be in the upper-70s to low-80s with blue skies and sun.  What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than leisurely touring one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods?

Visit the Irvington Home Tour website for details, information and to purchase tickets.

Doors open at 11:00 and close at 5:00.
