NE PDX: Moderate

With something to offer for just about everyone, NE Portland has the style and eclectic substance that keeps Portlanders coming back for more.  If you are looking for tree lined streets, historic homes within walking distance to parks, boutique shopping,  local restaurants, brewpubs or live music all served up on a heaping platter of Portland then you just might want to call NE Portland home.

Alberta Arts - Fun, funky and fresh.

  • Fun: Alberta Arts is home to the famous Last Thursdaycommunity party.  Last Thursday was originally started as a funky NE PDX alternative to what was viewed as the stuffy and overly chic First Thursday on NW 23rd.  In Nisha D.’s words, “Forget First Thursday. Last Thursday is obviously the queen of all Thursdays in Portland.
The art is funkier, cheaper, and far more diverse. The street performers range from belly dancers to bike jousters. The crowd encompasses every kind of crazy Portlander–from the heavily tattoed to the I only wear hemp to the My bike is cooler than your bikevariety. Last Thursday is Portland eye candy–there’s way too much to take in and all of it is insane. A definite do for any Portlander that has no problem with keeping Portland weird.”
  • Fresh:  Alberta Arts is also home to countless local restaurants, open air cafes and glorious foods tands.  Take a lunchtime stroll down Alberta Street on a sunny day for some of the best people watching the city has to offer.
  • Funky:  Much of the local new bohemian crowd calls Alberta home.  However, it’s an incredibly diverse community with artists, musicians, upwardly mobile young professionals, first time home buyers, and native Portlanders.  Check out local art at one of the art boutiques or stop by one of the boutique clothing stores.

Concordia - Known as much for the Kennedy School and Concordia University as anything else, Concordia sits just north of Killingsworth from Alberta.   Technically, much of what people consider Alberta Arts is actually part of Concordia.  That should tell you much of what you need to know about Concordia.  Energetic, lively and fun, Concordia shares much the same sensibility as Alberta Arts.  Great eateries, pubs, parks and more mingle with historic housing and easy access to the rest of the city.  Concordia has seen an amazing resurgence in recent years as the gentrification of NE Portland continues (as always, with mixed results).

Beaumont/Wilshire- Beaumont/Wilshire is a well established NE neighborhood.  While Wilshire and Beaumont are actually separated by Fremont St., the two have a common interest and are often considered as one.  The undisputed pearl of Beamont/Wilshire is  the Beaumont Village business district.  Located on NE Fremont, Beaumont Village is the neigbhorhood’s answer to Alberta Street or SE Portland’s Hawthorne Blvd.  Business, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and more, Beaumont Village is fast earning a favored spot in the Portland scene.

HollywoodNamed for the historic Hollywood Theatre, the Hollywood district is a mixed commercial/residential neigbhorhood.  With excellent access to the MAX and I-84, Hollywood is the favorite shopping district for Irvington, Grant Park and Laurelhurst residents.  May through November, the neighborhood hosts one of Portland’s better farmers’ markets, the Hollywood Farmer’s Market

Rose City Park

Note: As with any city, of course, there is quite a bit of overlap in terms of home pricing in a given neighborhood.  Most neighborhoods have a wide range of home styles, sizes and prices.
