NoPo

North Portland, or NoPo, is diversity in action.  From the fabulous river view homes of Overlook to the landmark St. John’s Bridge at Cathedral Park, to historic St. John’s and the industrial park that sits at the edge of town, NoPo thrives with diversity.  PDX motorheads head off to P.I.R. (Portland International Raceway) for a day, or night, of roaring engines and high speed races.  The University of Portland is the home to the NoPo intellectual scene.  For a taste of old Portland, take a walk through St. John’s.  Mississippi Ave., NoPo’s answer to Alberta Arts and Hawthorne, is one of the most vibrant and enjoyable districts Portland has to offer.

Mississippi – Simply put, Mississippi is one of the most uniquely eclectic districts Portland has to offer.  With something for everyone, Mississippiexudes an energy and dynamicism that’s truly infectious.  Technically part of the Boise/Elliot neighborhood, it wasn’t all that long ago that this part of town was considered a little on the grungy side.  In a very short span, though, Mississippi has gone from grimy to trendy…without losing its essential soul.
