Everyone remembers the wildly popular $8,000 first time buyer tax credit from a couple years ago, but very few Portlanders know anything about the current and on going first time buyer tax credit - the Mortgage Credit Certificate.  Please do not take the following as tax advice or a mortgage endorsement, but the information is potentially incredibly valueable and should certainly be investigated if you are thinking about buying a home.  The Portland Housing Bureau offers its own long term tax credit, the Mortgage Credit Certificate or MCC, that is described as an, "IRS-approved tax credit, which reduces their federal income taxes owed as long as they keep the loan and continuously occupy the home as their principal residence.”  Take a look at the following video and contact me if you have any questions or would like to learn more.…
