Water Intrusion and Thermal Imaging...a Breakthrough! (Part 1)
Not only do I spend the majority of my time working with buyers and sellers looking to buy or sell classic or historic homes, but I also put my money where my mouth is and bought myself a classic 1900's bungalow six years ago (technically my house was once a bungalow, but now it looks like a bungalow from the front, but a Queen Anne from the back and sides.). Now, as with most older homes, my house requires quite a bit of ongoing upkeep. Hey, it's a labor of love...for the most part. However, I have one ongoing issue that is not at all specific to classic/historic properties...

If you've spent anytime in Portland or, for that matter, watching Grimm, you know that, hey, we get a lot of rain up here. Not quite breaking news, right? Unfortunately, water is anything but your home's best friend. Water is just about the most damaging little nag a home can ever have to deal with. First and foremost, water leads to all kinds of nasty problems: mold, rot, electrical malfunctions, and the list goes on. It also can be incredibly difficult to diagnose as water has this nasty little habit of doing things that we don't generally expect it to be able to do.
